ok so i just picked up a set of tires (30x9.50r15LT) dirt cheap and i need i need to know what size wheels i need to pick up. i know the bolt pattern is 5.5 and its a 7.5" offset right? i dont really know much about tire and rim sizes, but i think i need to find a 15" wheel with 5.5" bolt pattern and 9.5" offset? second, anyone know of any vehicles i can find a wheel like that on?

You want 15x7 or 15x8 wheels. 15x8 being the best choice (IMHO) I think the offset is measured from the front edge of the wheel. Whatever offset your wheels are now, and what you plan on getting, you'll need about 4" offset with the 15x8's
i already picked up a set of 30x9.50r15 LT's for $20. but im a little confused. i thought the offset was the width of the wheel. is it from the edge to the wheel to the lugs? so from my understanding these tires would be too big for a 15x8. cuz the 9.5 in the 30x9.50r15 is the width of the wheel right?

ok, i was just looking at tires sizes, and the size i posted a minute ago doesnt seem right. the 30x9.50r15LT. thats what it says on the tire exactly but i was just looking at a tire/wheel calc and that wasnt even close to any options. they were all set up like: 235x75r15 for example. why doesnt my tire say something like that?. these tires came off a jeep by the way. dont know what kind, just saw the rims he was selling with them said jeep (didnt get rims, wrong bolt pattern).

cool, thanks. one last thing. i was looking at the manufacturer's website (cooper tires) and it said approved wheel width for this tire is 6.5-8.5" so the second number is not the wheel width (9.50)? what is it? thats the only number in tire sizes that i dont get now

This is one of the common themes it seems, & I had the same questions when I 1st got my Tracker. Maybe should go in the sticky up top...
I did a ton of research before I got my tires & rims. I'm running stock suspension still & wanted big but not huge AT tires... & not have them rub, but also not stick out past the fender, which won't pass inspection in my state.
The stock rims are 15x5.5" & have a 1.75" backspace. I think that link is wrong on how backspace is measured though. I believe it's the distance from the outside (specifically where the outer edge of the bead sits) to the wheel mounting surface (WMS). Ie: the stock rims tuck under 3.75" & stick out 1.75".
The tire shop that I had install mine said the same: outside edge to WMS = backspace. So, after talking to many ppl & asking around I went with 235/75R15 AT's on 15x7" rims with a 4" b/s. Most 15x7" rims have 3.75" b/s which ofc only makes 1/4" difference from what I got.
IMHO 8" rims are a stretch for a 30x9.50 tire & too wide for a 235/75. BFGoodrich does list 8" rim as max for their 30x9.50, but think about this: it's a 9.5" wide tire... on an 8" rim this means there is only 3/4" 'pinch' inwards on the beads. I have run 30x9.50 on 8" rim without any problem before though too... but when I had them installed, the installer said he thought it was a stretch. I just think a 7" rim is better suited for 235's or 30x9.50.
The stick in the works here is: every tire, even within same manufacturer, aren't the exact size listed on the sidewall... which makes it hard to figure what will fit w/out rubbing. BFG's 30"AT is 30" high... their 30"MT is 30.5", go figure.
In any case I went with 235/75 AT & 15x7" 4" b/s rims... turn lock to lock no rub & I don't generally flex it enough to hit the inner fenders. I plan on short lift at some point so it should end up not rubbing even at full flex.
With your 30x9.50's I'd say you're better off with 15x7" rims with 3.75 or 4" b/s. You'll prolly need some lift to keep from rubbing. The 2" spacers seem to be the ticket for 30's... Hth

I have 235/75r15 MTs with a 8 inch rim on my 95 2dr tracker and at full flex the rear rubbed. I just put 2 inch spacers and it's perfect with the 235s at full flex. IMHO anything bigger is going to rub at full flex in the rear even with the spacers
