grc1, I have thought of that but I am now in Argentina and there are no US market sidekicks here.
I want a US market one so I can take advantage of all of the great info on this site!
I can certanly understand your wanting to buy a US/Canada built suki/tracker because of the info you can get from this site.
I am old school and have learned more from here than anywere else.

I hope you find one.

Do you have an idea how negotiable is the pricing with the dealerships? Is it common for buyers to offer a lower price? I also want to do a detailed inspection and am hoping to that at the dealership...
Yeah, I looked into importing a Grand Vitara, but ended up buying local. It was too much hassle, and buying unseen made me a little uneasy.

Haggling is not prevalent here in CR (not just cars). My experience with dealers is that the price is pretty much fixed. You may cut your expenses on the registration if your lawyer is willing to do the paperwork for a little less. Again, my experience is that you might be able to negotiate some "extras" (alarm, seat covers, wheel cover, etc.) if you are ready to buy cash and pay in full. Otherwise, you're pretty much stuck with the asking price.

You can negotiate prices when buying from a private party.

The dealers I've dealt with have all agreed on my mechanic checking out the car. I'm sure the Suzuki dealer would do that for you.
