Default Hard top weatherstrip

First thanks for the info on the interchange hard top from sidekick to tracker.I bought the hard top and will be looking for weatherstrip later. It looks like a generic u channel with a rubber sealing surface. I looked around and can't find a supplier for weatherstripping. Has anyone got a outlet?? Thanks again for all the info. Patrick

Congrats on getting a new (to you) hard top. I watched ebay for over two years before I found one in driving distance AND the style i wanted. Ended up driving from Saint Louis Missouri to Ohio.

Once I got there, the seller helped me remove my soft top and install the hard top. He did not have any weather stripping from the original install and it was a very loud (wind noise) drive back home.

Once I got home I went to AutoZone and bought several rolls of a really nice weatherstrip they sell. It has rubber encased metal V groove with about a half inch rubber tube attached to the side of the V groove. That V-Groove presses on and stays on real well to either metal seams on the car itself, or onto the edges of the fiberglass.

I ended up doing a lot of experimenting and test driving and now have a totally wind free install. I Did however, end up putting quite a bit of the weather stripping on the outer edges of the fiberglass. I am pretty sure that if I had the original seal from the top maker, I would not have needed to do that, but it really looks fine and seals quite well.

I recommend JCwhitney. They have a lot of weatherstrip. Another good option is to check a place that sell/install canopies. Leer or Snugtop would be the best of them all. They have a nice, quality seal on hand that you can get by the foot.
