Default Question on tire sizes

I found a different set of tires on my local C-List and I need to know if they're the size I think they are.

Tire sizes are confusing to me but I would like to know what size 30x9.50x15 is.

They're on stock 95 Tracker rims which are 15's

Does this mean that they are 30 inch tires or am I missing something?

I know I post a lot of n00b questions, but a search engine can only help so much.

Thank you for your time

Yes, these tires are [approximately] 30" diameter, 9.5" wide

Tire size calculator

The biggest you can mount is... 235's last I knew. 30's will fit with a little rubbing on 4x4, I don't think they would fit a 2wd model as easily, not sure!

Place this in your comment if you want help: YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, ENGINE, TRANS, MILEAGE, AUTO/MANUAL HUB(if 4x4)

Okay good. It's been a long day and I just couldn't figure out what was going on with all of the numbers.

I'm picking them up tomorrow and I'm going to install them on my 89 4x4 Kick just to see how they fit.

Afterwards once I get some spare time/cash I'm going to do the 2" lift everyone's talking about.

For a newbie at wheeling, would a coil spaced lift be recommended and how difficult of a job is it?

I'm in Southwest Florida so whatever I do doesn't need to be over-the-top.

Not a whole lot of rocks or anything around here, just mud n' floods.

I would think that 9 1/2" wide is too wide to fit properly on the 5 1/2" wide stock rims. They'll fit but they will be very 'crowned' and you'll wear the tread out on the center of the tires very quickly. Also not very good handling/steering. For those tires to fit properly you need wider rims.

I've been running that size for two years on the stock rims, first with no lift then one inch body and one inch spring spacers, very minor rubbing on the frame, I adjusted the steering stop to clear, hardly noticed the change in steering lock.

Update: Installed them last night, they work great and look awesome.

No rubbing while steering and no major consequences.

When I get some more money I'm gonna look into some coil spacing.

It would be nice to see pictures of these tires.

There's a pic in my sig now, it's a shot I took when I parked in my friend's yard and put it up the bottom of his hill a bit.
