Default Offroading questions

I'd like to turn my 89 'Kick into an offroad monster.

I have a few questions before I begin the conversion

Right now it's completely stock.

15" tires
1.6 engine
Manual hubs.

I found some 31" wheels on Craigslist for a good price.
They came off of a 90's Jeep Wrangler.
I wanted to know if these would fit my lug pattern.

Also I would like to know the cheapest/most problem free way to put a lift on the kick.

If anyone has suggestions/comments, any input would be helpful.

Thank you!

i dont know about problem free but the cheapest lift would probably be coil spacers, 2" in the back and 1.5 in the front. you'll also need to get a longer shock on the rear (90's crown vic works i think) and for the front you'll either need to flip the strut mount or get strut spacers. also you could do a body lift for fairly cheap, but unless you want to lengthen a lot of lines and make it a lot more of a pain in the ass, dont go any bigger than 2".
now i dont pretend to be an expert with any of this. thats just what i plan on doing to my rig after a lot of shopping around and reading posts on this forum. also, you can get some OME (old man emu) springs for not too much, but that all depends on your idea of cheap.

Its hard to beat the value proposition for some of the kits. The LowRange guys were very good to deal with and quick to ship. I've never dealt with RockyRoad or CalMini, but I've heard of some delays because they don't stock product. YMMV.
LOW RANGE OFFROAD

For $120 you can get the spring spacers (2" rear and 1.5" front) and the strut spacers. Then all you have to do is add a pair of 1990 Crown Vic rear shocks ($30-60 pair depending on quality). Then another $120 for the 2" body lift. Both are easy to install in the driveway or garage, using hand tools, floorjack and jackstands, and maybe a small torch to bend the shifters.

That's basically what I did for mine and I have no regrets. Moving the bumpers up took a bit of work, but I picked up some steel plate from the hardware store and made some brackets that worked fine.

Summit Racing had the Cragar soft-8 wheels pretty cheap - so I got a set of 5 of those for about $150. Had some pepboys MTR tires mounted on them and they work great in the snow, sand and rocks.

I also welded up a set of rock sliders to protect the rocker panels. I may add a skid plate for the engine/front axle and then a lock-rite locker for the rear axle. Just depends on the budget. If you dont want a lunch-box locker, you can get a spool (permantly locks the rear axle) or just weld up the rear spiders (they call that a lincoln locker -after the little lincoln welders).

There are a few lift threads here on the forum, some with decent pics ...

The little trucks are a hoot on basic jeep trails - loads of fun!

well i know other people have the opinions
i think most important things are as said
- 2" coil lift
- strut spacer
- gas tank protection
- under armer
- 30" tires ( i dont think its good to go over 30's because lose of power and
u-joints are to weak but thats what i have found out by my reserch.

thats my 2¢

Weekend Warrior for sure, and I meant problem-free not price wise.

I've checked out your site and I have to say, you have some really helpful stuff on there.
