Default My New 95 Tracker

Just picked up my new toy yesterday it's a 2 door soft top 95 geo tracker 16 valve. I took it straight from the guys place to get some new 235/75r15 mud terrains put on it. It looks sweet soon to come is a 2 inch lift. I'll get some pics posted soon

Give me some tips to keep her running good on and off road!
Thanks

Wow ! 235/75R15 sweet.... so have you tried doing full turn left and right to see if the wheels touches any part of the car? It seems like your new tire circumference comes up to 6.54% bigger than the default 205/75R15 so if your speedometer says 70mph, your actual speed will be 74.58mph.

Not entirely true. The speedo with 205s reads faster than actual by a few percent. 235's put it dead accurate.

YES the wheels turn from lock to lock with no rubbing at all, but they are also on an 8 inch wide rim, and the speedo seems to be fairly close.

but mine are 75 actual for 70 indicated. 235's same.
stock tranny speedo gear sets. ( 5 permutations one has)
same as the math. fyi

see my last table for gear corrections on speedo

unsafe-at-any-speed?

no cruise yet, installing generic soon. JCW.

just driving on country roads 45mph.90%
long distance long run at 60 , can net way more. many post this here , profess that.
and that is US Gallons not Imperial (long gallons)
the 16v motor is very efficient as is the MPI brain.

and yes, some speedos do read high or too low, depends on age and luck.
the speedo is at best 5% accurate. or worse.
and yes, many mfg purposely set it 3 mph high to keep you honest ,
just like the gas gauge, it will be offset. (or worse "GAS" non linear"

and the speedo is non linear.
it is accurate only in its sweet spot, too low or too high it gets very inacurate readings.
it is a very crude magnetic coupled device and that is ITS nature.
the benefit is it is DIRT CHEAP to make.

i think every issue ever of road and track explains that , as it seems.

many speedos are set to 55,and then later to 65 sweet spot , (remember Richard Nixon )
ahahahahah ,, double nickels , tricky dick.

but you can tune and calibrate it your self. if motivated.
cheers.

i worked as instrument tech and calib. tech in USN for years.
(was drafted to army so ran to USN, lifes a beach)
hope that helps to understand the lil beast.
