Default Help with tyres!

Hi everyone I've just bought a '93 3dr 4wd Vitara. I need to get some steel rims and bigger tyres but I have no idea where to start (and I'm on a very limited budget.) I've had215/75-15's reccomended by a tyre shop but I have no idea what this means- can anyone help? I want to go as big as possible without having to lift it at this stage.

Thanks heaps, Isaac

Ahh, not quite...

235 is in mm for the width and 75 is the ratio in % of the width in height.

The tread will be 235mm or roughly 9.25" wide.
The sidewall will be 75% of that which is 6.9 inches tall.

Using your own link for a tire calculator proves this.

I suppose your info is correct if your tire is laying down..
