Question 1994 Tracker Rear Wheel Speed Sensor

Greetings:
1994 Geo Tracker - 5 Speed - 2Dr - A/C - P/S - 2WD

I have searched the forums and have not found much info on this so I am asking for input form the professionals. My Brake light on my dash is glowing. After heading over to Jerry's Sidekick Site (the best ever, Thanks Jerry), I found a tremendous amount of info on how to test it and such. After following the procedures, I have discovered that my RWAL controller flashes code 9 (Open Rear wheel sensor circuit). Ok, so off to the testing page and it states that the sensor should have between 1282.5 and 1567.5 ohms with the wires disconnected. Mine tests at 1900 ohms. While I know that this is out of range from the specs, it is pretty close, and before I go and spend $110 on a new sensor I was hoping for some feedback if anybody has changed on of these sensors and what your readings were.

Perhaps I am one of the few who want my RWAL to function, but these things that don't work, bother me.

I appreciate any info provided, and eagerly await your replies...

id not think sensor is bad (coil part) as 1900 is very close.
connections rusty , yes.
that id believe.

and thre is a TSB on this axle sender.

it says , nutshell.

remove it, clean off all the iron filings ( metal dust) stuck to magnet on sensor.
then put back in.

says common fail.

keep us informed,we get few here trying to fix that lil' beast.

Default Sensor Follow Up

OK.. So after thinking about this I looked again at the testing procedures along with the functionality of the RWAL. In my situation the Brake light comes on when the vehicle is started, prior to moving. So I went to Radio Shack and bought a 1400ohm resistor (this is about midway between the specs). I disconnected the sensor and placed the resistor in the plug. Now I know the resistance is within specs... However my light is still on and after checking for codes flashes a code 9 Open Rear Speed Sensor. IMO either I have a bad wire (connector, etc.) or a bad processor. I ran out of time this evening, but tomorrow I will ohm test the wire from the RWAL controller to the sensor plug to prove out the wires. I will let you know what happens...

Anxiously awaiting your report. My 92 kicker has the same problem, brake light on forever......Never checked into it cuz the breaks work great.
