Default Front wheel play?

So I was pretty sure my front bearings were shot (95 4x4 Tracker). I could jack up the front end and the wheels would shake back and forth when i push/pulled on them. Took it to the shop, $350 later they say its done. Got it home and tested it, it does the same thing still. Anything else that will cause play like this? Is there some naturally on these trucks?

Doesn't sound natural to me.Either a/they didn't tighten the bearings fully or it's a ball joint or tie rod end.When you jack it up,a wheel bearing will shake both up and down and side to side,a tie rod will generaly move side to side{lateraly?},a ball joint will move up and down.A second set of eyes is sometimes a big help ,you shake{or look underneath} Any of these conditions should not be ignored{the stories I could tell}

Thanks. I took it back this morning and they bearings were not tightened in properly. They took care of it and it feels tight. Will be checking every few days for further problems.

call the shop and ask them what they torqued the bearings to ...

did mine today ...

shop manual calls for 155 ft/lbs ...

and it takes a special hub socket ...

80$ ish just for the socket ...

i'll bet they just tightened first time and retightened them a little the second

they are dweebs.

you need to be sure they set the torque exactly like this.

or they will die in 3000 miles or less.

it is crutial to be done correct.
they are crush bearings. not$100 harbor freight trailer bearings. sorry.
swap out of front hub bearings

show them the tool.
show them the torque spec.
then make sure they dont just pound them on with a chistle size 10.
seen the chistel butch job ,over and over.
sad.

this page was the work of many here on this forum. helping with ideas.
thanks to all. !!

I have a 1 year parts and labor warranty on the bearings, so not OVERLY concerned about it right now. He says if they ever seem loose, come in and he will tighten them again (even told me to bring it back next week and he wants to do a checkup). Will bring this printout then.

Have a few more things that I'm concerned with right now, such as the split belts in my right front tire (just found that one Friday night....), a disgusting alternator belt squeak every time i think of starting it (belt is tightened to its mac.... need's replaced), and the bent rim on the right rear that shakes the hell outta me at low speeds... (Have new rim... waiting on new tires to put it on)

Speaking of tires, just ordered 4 new retreads from TreadWright.com (old Hi Tec Retread). Getting these: Product Detail Should be here tomorrow or tuesday

if he set them loose, they will fail and they will need replacing if not done correctly the 1st time. read the fine print on that warrantee.

1 year on wheel bearings. ? your kidding. right.? parts , labor and medical care? LOL on last.

just stating facts. you can use them however you like.
good luck.
