Default 1998 Suzuki Sidekick Sport

I have a 1.8L manual transmission and I had a couple of questions. I'm going to need new tires soon (stock rims) and I was wondering what tires you think I should get. I need an all terrain type of tire because I take it to the snow sometimes. My tire size is 215/65/16. Also, I have about 175,000 miles and I just ordered a new serpentine belt. I'm going to get a coolant flush, change the tranny fluid, & rear end fluid. Are there any write ups on how to do this yourself? I'm not really trying to pay for labor. I'm also going to change the fuel filter.

Yeah, I basically want to keep stock height. What tires would you guys recommend? I'm guessing there's no write ups on how to do the things I posted?

Look thru Jerry's website. Maybe you can find something applicable.

flush,
drain it, see petcock on lower rad tank?
fill with water and flush juice ( now only orange citrus oil, EPA safe for Killer Whales)
follow label , drive around block,
flush with lots of water. label says it all.
add antifreeze based on total coolant volumn. have op guide , its in there?

so if your cool.ilng cap is 10 quarts (its not), the put in 5 qt of antifreeze (my nums are too big)
and add water, to top
burp out all air.
check every morning , cold and add water till its stays full at rad cap filler.
there are like 10,000 web pages on basic car maintenance.
if flush with cash , use Distilled water. but our water up here is prestine.

lube, that is a little more difficult.

tranny and xfr case.
drain it,
then (tedious) remove side (right side front DO NOT TOUCH RIGHT SIDE REAR BOLT )
fill right side plug hole till it drips out. put back plug GL4.

now do xfr case, plug bottom and side. see em.
do the exact thing, with GL4

axles.
same thing.
bottom drain. and mid plate plug fill till drips out.

this will take for ever with a $2 bottle pump.
so consider that.

problems.
the plugs are glued in( suz sealant 1215) and turns to diamond epoxy after few years.
heat plug with propane torch , and it it with 3/8 " drive end and turn CCW.
i use a breaker bar at 3/8"

your 98 might be easy , if done before. if origional lube is in there, plugs can be tuff.

cheers.

Sorry Jerry, I didn't read comprehensively and was thinking auto trans, figured you had a section or link to flushing the auto tranny but after I reread the post, I see MANUAL trans. My error.

I'm going to do the coolant flush myself and I'll just have my friend change my differential fluid and clutch fluid. Where can I buy a new or used stock engine & tranny for my car? You guys know of any good places? Also, I really need a rear passenger side seat belt and I was wondering if you knew of a place I can order one. I know I can always go to the stealership, but their prices are quite high.

not always, some times they are cheaper.
sw suzuki.

and with knock off china parts EVERYTIME , Suz. beats them.

how many miles, you didnt say.?

miles is every thing and what PO did or didnt do to it.

what kind a motor. good bad, rebuildable?

id just put an add in Craigs , saying wtb 1.8L long block and or tranny.
you can use an Esteem 1.8L block i think, course the manifolds will be diff.

I have 172,4xx miles. The motor seems to be in good condition, but coolant always seems to leak out of one of the tubes and I'm leaking a little bit of oil from the oil pan. You want me to take pics to post up??? Also, if I were to get another motor & tranny I would want it to be stock motor/tranny.
