The wipers on my kick work only once in a while. I have changed the wiper motor, and have also changed the multi-function switch. I can run power directly to the wiper motor and the wipers will function (but not park or allow speed changes). The linkages are all good.
My old multi-function switch had an intermittent wiper function, the used replacement is only Lo/Hi - but they worked after the switch change several times.
Is there a relay or something that is in the circuit? The manual I have shows a simple Hi/Lo wiper circuit that seems without a relay, but since I originally had the intermittent wipers, I'm wondering if a relay in in the circuit somewhere and is faulty?
the combo feeds power to P2 to P0 and this reverses motor current and the blades, as it hits zero (blades down is zero) then P0 to P1 make P2 breaks and
all current stops.
so if return to zero is not happening.
check for power with blades stuck high.
at blue/white wire, Combo set to off.
if no power is there, then P0,1,2 contacts are bad in wiper guts. (reverser module)
just clean them and lube them (comes apart easy) and re-bend contacts if need be. bingo good. (mines been running for 2 years with this fix) no parts.
So I got back to this tonight, armed with jtgh's wiring diagram. Initially, I checked the plug to the wiper motor for power, etc. Yellow blue had 14 v, other wires showed power as I would expect when on Lo, etc, based on the wiring diagram. I plugged the connector in to the motor - nothing happened. I checked again for power - now nothing on any of the wires in any switch position. There was still power at the fuse. The ground is good - and I changed it in any case.
The motor works fine if I provide power to the blue connector on the motor - though it doesn't park then - as one would expect.
It seems to me that this must be the combo switch. I took apart my old one - that worked only once in a while, just as the current one is doing - but found no obvious problems in the circuit board. Are cold solder joints a problem on these boards?
Other ideas, or do I just spring for another combo switch?
