Default Attention: please read this before you post

Welcome to the portion of Suzuki-Forums.com regarding Suzuki Sidekick, Escudo, Vitara & Geo Tracker Forum (1989-1998). If you’re here looking for help with your car, please read the following before you post your questions. Also, note that there is a search function that may yield the information you need quicker than posting a question.

Most of the participants in this forum are happy to help you and some even know what they’re talking about. In order to help you better, they’ll need to know exactly what kind of car you have. Because this forum serves owners of several different kinds of cars made by Suzuki for different countries, here’s what they’ll want to know: Country, year, make, model, engine size, number of valves, type induction, type of transmission, 2WD or 4WD and any other information pertinent to your question.

Here’s an example: I have a USA 1989 Geo Tracker, 1.6 L with 8V, TBI, 5 speed manual and 4WD.

If your question regards your engine please state whether or not your CHECK ENGINE light is illuminated both before the engine is started (with key on) and after the engine is running. If your CHECK ENGINE light (also referred to as CEL) is on while your engine is running, please note all codes you have pulled. If you don’t know how to pull codes, you can learn more by visiting this web site generously posted by forum member jtgh (Jerry). Jerry’s site has a treasure trove of information, which can be found here @ The KickFix Repair Pages, for Sidekicks and Trackers

When you are ready to ask a question, please start a new thread rather than use this one. We hope this advice makes your participation in this forum more pleasant for you and everyone else.

Yes, Country, please !
and if in USA, look at EPA sticker under hood(look up)
see a suz sticker similar to this:

http://www.kick-fix.com/specs/emissions_cert.jpg

note the diff between calif and Fed48 cars (we have 2 cars in USA)
you need to tell us that and to buy parts. ( and expect them to fit and function correctly)

smash glasses. very well said and concise.
if you need help , say what car does good and bad.?
and if there is a problem are you able to hide the problem.?

slow driving, avoiding hills, Wide open throttle. ?
and
does it mess up hot and cold ( both the motor and the weather)?

this really helps with diagnosis.

if you need documents or spec . we can dig them up for you. and schematics.

and welcome.

a long post is better , on cars with driveability issues (misfire, bogging....etc)
as 20 short posts, it becomes hard to find all the facts , and after a day or two, we forget.

cars are complex and telling us the problem and history, is well received.
and don't be afraid to say, you broke something.
Nothing ventured , nothing gained. (you are just like us)

Thumbs up

I think the moderator should make your post "sticky".
(i.e. have it stick to the top of the list so it is always visible)

Default geo tracker timing

i have a 1995 geo tracker 16v auto 4whl drive. i have lined up the cam and crank and dist is set on number 1 pointing to the @1 oclock position and i cannot get it to start. i noticed there are 3 positions for the rotor button which is the correct position. also, if i set the dist to no. 4 position it will run but roughly can someone help me with this problem?

rcmsr,
You've got the right idea about including info on your car, but you need to start a new thread with your question. This thread is just general info for newbies.
