Talking Fuzzy got some new TOYS!!

Got new BFG 235/75r15 AT KO's on Cragar 15x7 Soft 8's put on today!! Same size spare & everything!! YAY!!

Before:

After:

Woot Woot!! Now... what will be next??!!

Comments: Thought they'd be noisy at highway speed, they're not... hardly louder than the 205 street tires that they replaced!! Thought I'd lose acceleration, noticed some, but not much. It downshifts a little more often, but I may have been putting my foot in it more on the backroad uphills too. I need to experiment with pressure & decide where I want it for onroad, they're way stiff now, but wanted em high to start so they seat well & stretch a little... I'll go from there.

Thanks, I'm 2nd owner... it was a little old lady tracker. Bad part is little old ladies have no idea how to maintain cars... but she sure kept it clean & only 67k miles when I got it. I had to do a lot of maintenance stuff 1st, but now that's all done I can start playing!!

Nice little truck, man!

Now it just needs that 2" spring spacer lift.

Ty Ty
Coil spacers?? Naaaaah, not for me. I'm going OME springs/kit though I think. It's short lift, but I don't need/want lift much. I want the ride from em more, which everyone I've seen talk about it says it's great. One guy described it as '200% better'. Costs lots more but I'd rather do that than just get height, stock ride, & no more flex. Not sure how far I want to go with it yet though... we'll see!!

Fuzzy1, is your body or suspension lifted at all now? And those Cragar 15x7 Soft 8's rims you mentioned, did they require spacers or adapters in any way? I am looking to get new wheels and tires myself, but don't want to alter things to much. Your pictures and testimonials are inspiring me.

thanks,
randy

Nope, other than the tires & wheels, mine is bone stock, no lift (so far) & no spacers... ever lol. I don't see much point in spacers when you can get wider & higher backspaced wheels if you want more width... why add another part? The Cragars I bought are 4" b/s, which is 1/4" more than most other 7" wide rims I looked at... most are 3 3/4". I got the wheels at Summit Racing, & the tires from JCWhitney. Would have gotten both from JCW since they will mount & balance free if you buy both... but they didn't have the style I wanted & Summits price on the tires was a bit higher. (More than the price to have them mounted locally.)
I did a ton of research on rim width/backspacing & tire size/fit before I bought, which paid off I think. I gained 4 1/2" trackwidth & still kept them under the fenders, which in my state is required to pass inspection. So far no rubs at all, though I haven't done much flexing & by looking I might get some rub at full stuff. I plan on doing OME springs soon, so that shouldn't be an issue with the 235's.
Just be sure to get wheels that are 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern & have a 4.25/4.28" center hole, & get the proper width for your tire choice. IMO 8" is too wide for 235's & even a stretch for 30x9.50's so that's why I chose 7". hth
