I don't know where you'r at,but it is possibil to over cool your trans,as far as the return line,I don't think it matters, correct me if I'm wrong

tranny supply , bottom line, into left rad fitting , into cooler
thru cooler then out right side Rad fitting , then to tranny upper pipe.

on the right side of tranny the pipes.
top outlet (return fluid) ( out let means output of rad cooler )
bottom is inlet. (pump out)

source page 7a-19 cooler flushing.

on tranny the fitting closest to pump is pump side .
the end fitting is return. oil.

that is all .

thanks guys ...

fwiw i don't believe you can over cool an auto ...

i had an '89 ramcharger and ran the trans through the condensor at 110k...

i had 35's until i sold it at 235k ...

teenage boy who bought it ran 39's until 300k plus and he finally drowned it and left it in a pond ... all on the original 727 ...

but the tranny worked until he drove it in over the hood and left it there for a week ...

majority of my friends do it and have very good luck with it ...

depends on location and car
are you pulling a 1500 lb trailer up a hill every day.

and yes, you can overcool a tranny.
you can google that and get 1million hits. ( ok , it is common knowledge and states this in the master mech, book ASE)
they sell temperature reg, that fits in the line that kills the cooler. (air to liquid) on cold days.

and the faster the tranny warms up (water temp warms the fluid of tranny see)
the less wear on everything.
better mileage, life span, efficiency. etc.
all this is just a google search away, or just go to AAMCO and ask.

in the real world , there is too hot and there is too cold.

same with EFI, if you remove the thermostat, this kills the EFI and the motor. fast as can be.

you can get a million hits on bigfoot and ufo's too ...

i purchased a tranny cooler rated for 14k pounds for the geo ...

the geo has 309k on it now ... (no idea about the tranny though)

so HOPEFULLY i'll get back to you at the 500k mark and let you know how well the tranny is doing then

our '85 bronco has had the trans fluid running through the condensor for the last 30k miles also ... two winters down and the C-6 shifts like new at 100k ...

i'll be the guinea pig and get back to you guys in a couple of years
