Al right so I’m having an issue putting my cv shaft back in the front differential . It goes almost all the way in but doesn’t lock in any body know any tricks to get it in there.
Try grabbing the shaft near the wheel side to steady the outer CV joint and lift the shaft up and down a bit or wiggle it side to side while tapping on the wheel side joint w/ a heavy plastic mallet. No possibility the circlip has become dislodged? No rust or corrosion on the diff side splines? Same shaft you removed? Not used? If original, was it tight when removing?
mine did that once, just turn it and push till it pops in. i lubed it up b4 puttin it in

Ok so I tried all of that above. Still can't get it to stay. I even pulled the hub assembly off to have better clearance. What I did notice is that when it’s not attached to the hub .it will go in completely but if I give it a good tug it comes out. I feel like it’s going past the clip. But once I put it all back together the axel pops out. Could the alignment shop of messed up and set the wheel too far out or do you just think it’s a faulty clip? Also it’s the original axels and a used 3rd member. The 3rd is out of a 96 5 speed.
