Default 91 kick brake problems

I just bought a 91 sidekick and it barely has any brakes pads are good replaced the master cylinder and bled lines (no leaks). Seems like i only have pedal after pumping them a couple of times.

eiter you bled them wrongly, or you still have air in the line.

that or

you need to look for leaks.

if all that fails, new break fluid pump

id bank on air in the lines .

if not

then leaksss

I Bench bled the new master cylinder. Started bleeding brakes at drivers rear(there is no bleader on pass side) bled air out of line 6 or 8 times(refilling resivoir when needed) then went to the pass side front caliper bleader bled it 5 times or so then went to the drivers side and repeated I dont have a vacum bleeder. There was good fluid stream comming from each bleeder. Brake light on the dash is also on. I talked to a buddy of mine that has a repair shop , He said he had a tracker similar problem (spongey peddle) that it was the proportioning valve. Pedal pumps up after 3 or 4 pumps .

Does any one know what the little cylinder looking thing under MC is it has a bleeder on it. What is the Pressure limiter valve , Pressure metering valve? would these valves possibly make me have a spongy pedal?

thats right bucksnort.

the cyl. is the dump valve.
your car has rear wheel antilock brakes.

and that means more place for air to hide. and more parts to mess up.

it is complex and has its own computer module (RWAL controller just above left toe)
with black plastic covering it.
there is a DLC connector below steering column for jumping and making the BRAKE lamp blick out codes, just like the ECU does.

is brake lamp on?
all the time?

now you can bleed this system with no specail tools.
but a pressure bleeding is #1
then vacuum #2
and last 2man bleed tech. (1 pumps pedal , other bleeds and yells)

the procedure is in the FSM.
i will attached the full bleed procedure next.

rear to front. just like all cars. longest path to the shortest.
and
if MC was changed , it need pre-bleed first ( read instuction on the box , it tells how)

more later.

the doc , is to big to upload here.
1.6mb
so send email link that you can receive email attachments with.

but basic bleeding on this car is no different than any generic bleed instructions.
just be sure to bleed all bleed nipples far to short.
if you have never done this , or read a book on this topic.
try this.
free information.
Bleeding Brakes

you do not need a specail tool to rattle the modulator tool like some cars.
this car, is conventionally bled.

course he does.

for the MC or slave cylinder /caliper is leaking.
only 2 possibles. leaks or air in system.
usually just bad technique in bleeding.

That is way pressure bleeding is so good.
but agressive vac bleed works good too , just use lots of fresh fluid.
a full quart. will get it done.

once you've done an airplane or motorcycle, all others are easy.
100% down hill bleeding, try that, and the bubbles go up and you bleed down.
lots of fun (not)
cheers
