Default Geo tracker transmission instalation

hay guys, i have a 91' geo tracker with a automatic in it, and i was going to make it a manuel. I have a newer 95' for parts, and i was going to put in that manuel. But im not sure if it will work, and what all to do to change it. Is it super hard, or would i be able to do it on a weekend. If i do change it to a manuel, what will it do help out my gas mpg, and would it help me out so i dont rev at 3800 on the interstate. Also what all would i have to change to make it a manuel, would it just be the trany any gears ur anything. Idk Thanks for any replys and help

by what i have been told its not hard to change over to a manual trans. i hear you can just take the manual pedals out of the one and they will bolt right into the other. just have to cut out for the shifter. other than that i have not done this yet.

yeah i wish i had done one so i would be more help. but as I have done a lot of fab work on other stuff it does not seem that bad to me. change flywheel on motor while trans is out. I would take some measurements from the from of the trans to the shifter then I would measure the hole in the one that had the manual trans in it for the opening so you can use the boot for the shifter. that way u will have the cut out where it needs to be things like that. I think i was told you can leave the ecu alone but i would hang on to the manual trans one just in case. dont cut the wires that go to the trans i would zip tie them up somewhere in case you decide to put the auto back in it.
