Default 89 sidekick died, then would not start

Alright so I have read alot of the other posts on this board and i believe i may have a pretty good idea of what the problem likely is.

1.6 efi 89

I was driving it off road the other day very low on fuel.

It died and would not fire any longer.

i added more gas and it still would not run.

Towed it home, noticed the fuel pump was not turning on.

Would fire with fuel in the throttle body

hardwired fuel pump, ran but poorly, it was really hard to keep running

That is about where i am at. I plan on getting a new fuel pump, but it ran so poorly when i had the fuel pump wired on. I wonder if there is something else wrong?

The previous owner let it rust out terrible, including the fuel neck. When i bought it from him for only $100 he was using a hose to get gas into the tank. Is it possible the fuel pump just sucked in some rust and died?

Thanks for you advice in advance

Dan

also is this the right pump?

sure ,
running pumps dry burns them up , they are fuel lubricated and cooled.
all EFI tank pump cars.

so is rust.
if the tank has rust , the car will never be reliable again.
the injectors have 10 micron screens , expect to clean them weekly.

ask any motorcycle owner ,(lots of rusty tanks)

Very informational,

I see that picture of the fuel filter, where exactly is that located on the truck?

And any recommendations on where to pickup a new pump rack, mine is shot.
