Test drove the car again this morning and CEL lite up again. It is giving code P0141. I also noticed the arcing sound again coming from somewhere by distributor cap. Guess the bad plug wire was not the initial problem.

Tracker has 94,000 miles. So my next step is to trace o2 wires to see if they are connected correctly to the connector? If that is not the case, then my next option is to pull out coil and test that? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Put in a new distributor and the arcing sound is gone. (thank god). I also put in a new o2 sensor. Test drove around for a while and cel came on again and engine started hesitating. Still throwing a p0141 code. (the o2 i just replaced). Any thoughts? Thanks.

It was a bosch universal o2 for the rear. Not sure if oem or not. (for the money I forked out for it, it should be made of gold) Universal, i had to splice wires together for the kit that came with the sensor. Makes me wonder now if the splices are not connected like you said. I'll open up the connections to look at. Another question, if ecu is bad because of my stupidity of wiring old o2 wrong, will the car even start? I might not have used the right words for the question, but thats what I can come up with at the moment.

The o2 is a Bosch p/n:15733 universal. This is what the dinglberries at the parts store gave me. I just took it off the exhaust and i'm going to take it back and get the actual o2 with the connector. (hoping they will exchange the one i am taking back). As for the question, a few people i've been talking to were telling me that they think if the ecu is bad because of the incorrect splicing of the o2 then the car will not start at all. I guess that until i put in a proper o2, the ecu could be bad still in the back of my mind. I do appreciate all the research and advice you give me jerry.

Forgot to add. The car will hesitate when first accelerating and then i guess catch up to itself, but when coming to a stop the car wants to stall. rpms dip down to under 500. I think its the o2 on this matter. Replaced distributor and timed it 8 BTDC. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, timing belt. We'll see. Thanks again.

Also forgot to mention, car was running ok before cel comes on throwing o2 code. It would hesitate a bit when first accelerating but catch up to itself and idle fine before cel comes on. After cel comes on is when car will hesitate and want to stall when stopping.

I exchanged the universal o2 sensor for actual o2 sensor and code is gone now. (One problem out of the way). I did a compression test and all 4 cylinders were between 170 and 180. Tested the resistance of the tps and iac and both are within range as well. Today, cel came back on throwing p0340 code (camshaft position sensor). Now I have not yet purchased a fsm but will be soon. Can someone tell me if there is a test I can do to the camshaft position sensor and where it is located? My father-in-law came out today and said that it sounds like it is misfiring when accelerating. In the meantime, I am taking off egr valve to clean out and ether the vaccum lines for leaks. Thanks.

I put a new distributor on it 2 weeeks ago from rockauto unless the new one is defective. I'll check the connectors in the morning and hopefully find something.
