apparently there is a transducer somewhere in the EGR system, something to do with controlling the solenoid valve maybe? i will try cleaning it and resetting the light though, and see if that works. tomorrow if i have time.

The mod valve is also called the transducer, but I wouldn't even do that yet... 1st just clean that port... as I said, mine threw p0400, I cleaned the port & tube only & it's been fine since. The tube wasn't even bad & I bet I could have just cleaned the port from the TB side & been done with it. IIRC Jerry just did this with his newly aquired '96 & that's all it took. Go to the last pic on this link. This is a pic inside the TB of a 16v. Clean port #1. Only things you need to remove are the black plastic throttle cover (so you can prop the throttle open) & the intake hose; 3 screws & 1 clamp. I used a 9mm brass bore brush from a gun cleaning kit & some carb cleaner. If you use this, be sure to turn clockwise only so you don't unscrew the brush inside your TB.

Ahh...

I sugguest inspecting the EGR valve and then cleaning it if needed (won't help to squirt carb cleaner and letting it sit a little). I found this pic on google for EGR. Try local junkyard and if you can't find I will get this part for you and you only pay for price of shipping and small fee for part(i'll hide it in some other part or tell em its a plastic cover, yes they are not that smart and probably won't even know what I am talking about). I think one off an 8v should work on 16v AFAIK, jtgh can confirm I am sure. But I use air to mess around with mine and I would check to see if the P and Q are on CORRECTLY!
