Default Couple of problems on 92 Tracker

I have a 92 Tracker 4wd manual LSi hard top

The problem I'm most concerned with is a jerk when driving around town when cold. When I first start it up it has a normal idle, giving it gas it has a bad hesitation, I have a feeling that it could be a converter or clogged muffler. The problem persists until I hit about 45 mph, then its good until I have to slow down or stop. The part that confuses me the most is that after running for about a half an hour the problem goes away completly. The tach varies minimumly so it seems to me that it has fuel and fire but perhaps a clog somewhere.

The other problem is unrelated but after I shift into reverse I hear a loud clunk when I start to give it gas, and then again when shifting into 1st.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

Check timing of the engine(last resort)... if you have already removed O2 and drove it around the block (don't force it out if it won't come but then its a missed test of backpressure and knowing if the CAT is clogged or not). Make sure the TPS is adjusted properly and works right. Tune-up on cap/rotor/plugs/wires? Inspect them! The temperature is geting to 180F? Nothing has changed and you have not been off-roading to damage the cat and it has not been running rich/lean I would suspect timing belt slipped and needs service or just a tune-up!

it's an 8 valve, recent tune up and new O2 sensor last year. What baffles me is that if it's a 70 degree day then there is no problem

Thanks for your help

Default a92 8v , 5s , 4wd, LSI, has cold only jerk.

jerk when driving around town when cold.

jerks violent can be spark related.
It wont be pump , ( we did have 1 poster that found a pump drop out only at 3500 rpm and no where else. one psychotic pump from hell)

it sounds like a TPS dropping out.

if you wiggle gas foot can you (tiny bit) will this effect the bad point?

the only cold , is baffling , to say the least.

moisture under the Dizzy cap?

intermittent fails, are never easy.

Check the timing... garantee I had simliar results and it ran okay on a hot day and was timed at 0 degree's.
