Default fuel pump relay/fuse

Hey guys, I have an 89 sidekick 8v that will not start. Heres the story...while I was at work yesterday my roomate decided to borrow my 'kick and try to jump start some old toyota sitting in the yard because he wants a crash to pass car, since it had no battery he decided to hook the jumper cables up directly to the battery cables while the suzuki was running. Apparently it died within several seconds. After i got home and yelled at him for awhile, i checked all the fuses and they are good. It will turn over but not start. I was not getting fuel to the throttle body so i dropped the fuel tank and removed and tested the pump and it works fine but there is no power to the pump. Im wondering if there is a hidden fuel pump fuse somewhere? Where is the fuel pump relay located on the '89 model? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

your friend is goofy, you could blow up your ECU ,that way !
no hidden fuse.

http://carfix.stufftoread.com/INJECT...9-90schem1.jpg

you get to check power to the ecu.

if the ecu DOES NOT get power it will not pull in the FP relay.

CEL LAMP ON KEY ON ?
it must be.
did you check the fuse under hood right side fender and above left knee?
sure you did.
do you have spark.
i swear , we have 2 types of ppl here, ones that love pulling tanks and others that hate it. HHAHAHAHAHHA

you now have a drawing.

do you have a meter

Pump is dead ,now what

step 4
on yours 89 ,you need to find the 8 pin main relay.
it has 2 relays in side it.
check the pink/black wire on it.

key on
meter goes to 12v for 3 seconds. then 0v
this will happen each key on.

if not ecu or relay is bad or power to either.
test2
check for 12v at the blue/black wire of same relay
if bad,
check power 12v at black/white wire.
if no power there, the fuse is blown.

See Jerry's note about a fuse for 1989 model.

The fuse block, relays and ECM in my 89 are all under the dash by the driver's left knee. The fuel pump relay is one of two in a combined piece that is relatively easy to access (if you're not too big or if the driver's seat is removed). If you disconnect it from the wiring harness and jump 12v across the coil connections, you'll hear it click if it's OK.

This is a bit off topic but my 89 has no cel or place for one. Were there a couple of configurations for these?

Are you sure that the bulb hasn't burned out or been removed?

On my 89 Tracker, the CEL is in the spot immediately left of the symbol for low oil pressure (looks like an oil can).
