Windshield pits?

Over the years windshields get pitted with hundreds/thousands?
of tiny pits/chips. These pits add to the glare when driving
into the sun.

Is there a coating/polish that will fill these in?

Sometimes it is cheaper to pay $80-120 for a new windsheild than to buy the rubbing compound and work for hours getting it smooth.

I personally have some white-clear stainging on the windsheild that is hard to remove (even with CLR)
