the colors are factory codes.
the colors show variances from STANDARD.

if you have the FSM , it shows how to check all the clearances.
Plastigage.
inside mics
etc.
then based on facts one decides what to do.

the color codes work on virgin enigines in the factory.
for example lets say #1 bore is tad over std.
to the assembler , installs a red coded piston for the hole.
15 years later, this is all going to be diff.
matching old parts to oil codes, is folly.

no offence but this is not legos.

you need a book on engine rebuilding.
google that and you will find 1000s for sources.

if your question is how do i mix junk yard parts and make something go.
then i cant help you.
but there are others with this experience.
good luck to you .

cheer.

first of all i have been building suzuki motorcycle engines for 7 years and i do have a hynes manual and they tell you how to use plastigauge. suzuki uses a chart that will tell you which bearings to use. the codes on the crank and block will tell you which color bearing and the part number too. All i wanted to know was if anybody had a suzuki manual that could look it up for me. The parts are not junk yard parts just spare parts i had from my last motor, which was the original motor that the water pump went out on. I would like to get it done before next weekend.

its all good man. i didnt mean to be rude sorry. if i had a picture of the chart they use you would know what i mean. i ordered the fsm friday, when i get it i will post up the chart. only thing is if the crank has been reground or spun a bearing its useless. also suzuki is very good about using the same parts on several things. like i found out at my shop we had the wrist pin clips in stock. they were the same as a gsxr-1100 92 model.

yes, and on Hondas the center of PN shows the first car or MC the part first was used,
the codes are based on not worn parts but new. nice idea huh?

once something is worn the colors are no longer any good. ( obvious to most)

i didnt know you just had a dissassembled engine that is stock and wanted the data for
reassembly.

and my electronic parts list shows only 3 pistions and 2 rods sizes.
how ever the crank mains have.
5 colors in STD
and
5 colors in 0.25 over size.

mains
Green . 1.996-2.000mm
black , 1.999 to 2.003mm
colorless= 2.002 to 2.006 mm
yellow = 2.005 to 2.009mm
blue= 2.008 to 2.012 mm

i will scan. the fsm
pages,6a55-58 tomorrow for all color codes. 91 man.

many dealers, see few if ever these old cars. they are old
and to spend $150 hour (shop rate) on a rig worth $500 ,is rare.

no one does it, mostly.$$$$

so to work on these cars, get the Fsm FOR your self. $25 , 1/4 hr . labor
and the first fix you do your self pays for the book 10 fold.
I can see you know this, as you have one on order.
knowledge is power.

i can scan the pages no problem.
i just need time. and be home.

there are some that can't even remember OBD1, or have just forgotten.
water under the bridge, erases the mind.

I made my page just to help , out all these old cars and to keep them on the street.

Hope that helps you are others.

ebay search "tracker service manual" Not suz, they are kinda rare.
get a tracker book, the drive train is same. (only 1.6L )
