Problem with AUX iPod Interface
The Suzuki Dealership just installed the Aux iPod Interface in my wife's Grand Vitara a few weeks ago. Her car has the Factory Premium Sound System with the 6-CD Changer built in and she has a brand new iPod Nano 3rd Gen. With the cost of the Interface unit it cost me $240+ to have the iPod adapter installed.
I The problem I have is, instead of her song list continuing where it left off from the previous day, it always starts over again at the beginning of her song list each and every morning. It doesn't do this if you are only away from the car for a short period of time. Only after it sits over night. And no the iPod is not losing it's charge. When I check the ipod battery indicator in the morning the iPod is still fully charged.
The second problem I have is that when I set the stereo head unit for the iPod to play Random Mode, the head unit defaults back to the Repeat Mode when you shut off the ignition and then turn it right back on. I beleive that any stereo presets that I have should stay where I have them preset, no matter how many times I shut off the car.
The way the iPod Interface works now, unless she were on a long trip, there is no way she would ever be able to listen to more than the 1st 20-30 songs on her iPod.
I contacted the dealership service people about it and they tried to give me a line about "that's how it's supposed to work" and that some of the managers at the dealership have the same exact set-up in their cars and they say that theirs always start at the beginning of their music list each morning too. Sounds like he's giving me a line.
I say the Suzuki service guy is full of it. Things you pre-set should stay pre-set and the Interface Unit should continue to play a music list from where it left off the previous day. All the other Clarion Units I have looked at work that way.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
Thank You
