Default Test Drive

Hi all,

I'm going to test drive a 1996 Sidekick JX 2-door tomorrow...it's got 106k miles on it...it's an auto trans.

Any tips on what to look for? What would be a big red flag to not buy?

Thanks!!

John

I will go from my own experience with my 97 JXL.

Steering, ball joints, belt and hose condition (to guage regular maintenance).

electrical system (since mine has shorts in a few places).

Hi, on older sukis and trackers I always check the bottom of the doors. This would be the underside were the drain holes are located. This is always the last part to be repaired if a person is selling one that has rust. Also check with a magnet around the rear quater panels right above the rear wheels. Next ,if you can , check the floor boards for any rust holes. Last but not least check for rust or body filler atound the rear lights.

If you find any of these problems then please spend the $100. bucks and take it to a mechanic that you can trust and get his opion.

Hope this helps.

I sent you an email with the checklist I used to buy my Tracker. Good luck.
