Default 92 1.8 3speed auto

Sorry its a 1.6 8Valve

Is it a direct swap from the 3speed auto to the 4speed auto.
I do alot of highway and I cant help but think if I put the 4speed in I will have better cruising and gas mileage,
Also my 3speed is slipping pretty bad and I can get a 4speed for arround $300

My goal is to find a doner vehicle and swap the auto for a manual, but having trouble finding a doner in my area.

I believe the Suzuki/Geo 4 spd auto is computer controlled, you may be opening a can of worms. This may be an alternative. Good luck

best AT post ever. Volvo, (but here they are rare as hens teeth , only short bus school teachers drive them , me on board,)

if forgot to say , the 4sp with the Tcm REMoved , becomes a manual tranny.
i have friends that drive like that , with no clutch. every day.
dead TCM so they drive manual.
5sp blows, put in 4sp and shift with out clutch. no big deal for life shifting folks.

it is habit forming..

cheers
