Alternator Voltage Sense Source ?
USA Federal model, 1995 Geo Tracker, 16 Vlv, MFI, 4X4, 5spd Manual, AC, Pwr Steering.
If I understand things correctly, on the alternator wire harness plug, there is a "voltage sense" wire that the regulator uses to determine how much output the alt should strive for to feed the needs of the vehicle.
I would like to know where that "voltage sense" wire runs to after leaving the alternator. Under dash fuse block? RH Fender fuse block?
I recently upgraded to a GM CS130 105amp alternator. Ironically, it seems to be doing too good of a job now. Shortly after starting the car after sitting overnight, its charging at 15.2 volts with lights and fans and my DC to AC invertor on. After a while it settles back down to 14.9 volts. I am interested in finding where the "voltage sense" source is, to help understand what is signaling the regulator to put out so much voltage after startup.
I have bid on fleebay for a FSM for my car but auction does not end until 6 days from now. And of course my Haynes manual is useless for tracking this wire source.
thanks,
randy
