Does it make this grinding noise in 2wd or just 4x?Didja check the mount on the front diff? I had this problem{at least the same noises}a bit ago,the mount on the front diff had quit and the yolk was rubbing on the bell.
good luck

4wd it stops (2wd noise ) you need to better explain that noise.
and all gears and reverse !

remove the locking hubs and repeat the tests. (top fail on this site)

the locking hubs do NOT hold the wheels on.

it is common for dirty rusted hubs (4wd locking of any kind) to get stuck half in and half out,and make big problems.

its a 7.5K mile service point. Inspect, if dirty clean, then re-grease them lightly with marine grease.
swap out of front hub bearings

and better
Manual Hub Clutch Assembly

looks like he's down. (above) too bad, best photos ever !!!
if anyone can trace him, tell him i will host his page FOR free with full credit.
thanks
