Default What is the difference (picture) of this Carbi intake?

I own a 1997 Vitara.

I just bought a 1994 Vitara JX for parts and I am swapping some parts off of it, including the air intake. It seemed that mine was malfunctioning and I took off the one from the 1994 JX because it was manually adjustable. It has actually helped by reducing the frequency of the flooding.

Has anyone seen this before?

It is right where the red circle is in this pic. I changed the one in the circle with the one in my original post.

that dealy bob on the end ,selects hot are or cold air.
summer winter.

i think there is a tube (missing ) that gets hot air off the exh manifold.
helps in the winter.
most cars have a thermal switch ,yours is human power.

what market car is this?

the blue tag on fire wall i see there has the market code as alike this here 24.
see this;
read body tag

see faexxxxxx24 the last 2 digit is market code and tells which of the 99 market cars were imported to Montreal.

Yeah, thats hot air intake is all. You can see in your last pic where the flange on the manifold heat shield has rusted off, at about 7:00 inside your red circle. There used to be a flex tube attached from there to the bottom of the air cleaner as jtgh said. If you look inside the end of the intake opening, you'll see a butterfly that would open & close to draw warm air in from around the exhaust manifold or let cooler air from the tube. I'd also guess there used to be an extention from the end of your air intake to the fender or grille area, to draw in cooler air. I've had several old cars that had these, I don't think any of them ever functioned. In fact on my '78 bronco I just pulled the pin holding the butterfly on & pulled it out so it wouldnt restrict air flow. The 'can' on top is a vacuum actuator for the butterfly. I just removed the vacuum hose & put a nipple cap on the manifold vacuum nipple so theres no vacuum leak.

You cats must have x-ray vision.I don't see anything there that looks like a carb. But,yeah, there should be a hose for cool air and a piece of junk like a tinfoil rad hose{with the spring inside}going to a tin cover on the manifold,we used to call it the furnace.Wouldn't expect to see one in this day 'n' age.Did they make any Trackers in Russia?

You were right about E01

It is a FAE655Y01

1997 Vitara JLX
8v, Type 5, E01.

I am guessing it was made for the Asian or other non-Euro/American/Canadian market.

There is no winter here, so I am wondering if I need the tube to get cold air intake.

"carbi on the barbi " vabor lock heaven.

( no xray, that aircleaner will never fit any EFI. )
notice it surrounds the carbi , very classic.

first market code i ever guessed at right. blush.
market 01 and 11 are "GE GENERAL LISTED".

and have 14 sub models. (sold to countries with no fed smog dept.)
O1s come in all 8v/16v flavors and efi anc carbs.
so are the hardest to order parts for, with out full TAG ,data. !!!

what this car lacks in EFI sensors , is more than made up for in
complex carb vacuum devices and dizzy vac, adance (push pull 2 tubes, very tricky)
