Default Moses' 97 Vitara - Now with added lift :)

Hi all,

I never did introduce myself on this forum before posting asking questions etc, so figured I would take the time to now since you guys have been of great assistance already

My name is Kris, I live in Perth, Western Australia. And as of 3 days ago I now have a 1997 Suzuki Vitara soft top (2 litre, 5 spd manual).

Went on its first real offroad adventure today, about 10km north of where I live is a very popular offroad area with many, many km of bush tracks. Its about a 50/50 mix of hard dirt and soft beach type sand. Lots of big sandy hills as well which proved rather challenging with the pathetic road tyres on the Vitara at the moment.

Only got into trouble twice ourselves, and both times were able to dig ourselves out thankfully (since there was no one else around to help!). We also got to put on our rescure hats and helped pull out a seriously stuck Mitsubishi Triton, much to their relief.

Had great fun though, cant wait to do it again.
Anyway a few pics from today!

cheers,
Kris

Wow man, those pictures looks great, cant believe how clean your Vitara is, being so close to the ocean, no problem with rust?

I just got my 89 Tracker, am rebuilding the engine and give it to my son in about a year or so, am thinking on selling my 88 Jeep Cherokee and drive the Tracker for the mean time, it feel like a fun truck to ride and I hear is they are great on gas economy my Jeep is a gas hog!

Lucky you have folding mirrors... I wish I could find a nice 96+ model Vitara in the US.

Default Lift Kit!

Fitted a 2" lift kit over the weekend. Extremely happy with it.
Used 30mm spacers in the front, 50mm spacers in the rear, and new RidePro Struts & Shocks all round (both are approx 50mm longer then stock items so worked perfectly).

Took a heap of pics while I was doing it and thought some might be interested. The back was ridiculously easy. Front was a fair bit harder, the LHS was okay because unbolting the driveshaft gives enough droop to fit the new spring/spacer in. The RHS was much more difficult since you can't easily disconnect the driveshaft. I ended up just buying a coil spring compressor in the end which did the job nicely.

Any way on to the pics.
