Rear Defroster issues?

New to me 95 with removeable hardtop. Reaf defroster did not work. Replaced old pushbutton switch with new OEM switch - now the indicator light on the new switch is "on" all the time - whether or not the switch is pushed in. Suggestions? Thanks.

is it stuck on heating ?
youd know it if it was defrosting all the time.

it is just a switch , wires and the goofy glass heater.

do you have a DMM multimeter.
we can take 2 readings and proclaim.... bla bla..

or google (1 million hits i got)

some switches malfunction with a dead grid.
the grid must measure a short end to end with an ohm meter
if it dont all the switches and the wires in the world wont help.

it is just a simple resistance heater.
