i went to buy an 8V motor from a shop and when they got the motor in, it turned out to be the 16V motor... The owner of the shop was telling me the 8V head should fit on the 16V block, is this true or can something go bad.. thanks
Broadcasting from deep within the earths bowels , in living color and full of bull.....
is this a double post? ( i don't care nor reg. anything ,so)?
just curious, as we posted answers to the other posting.
the answer is :
it might work.
and the notched pistons , may ? change the CR. ( but no)
but looking at the VC equation, the increase in combustion chamber volume, is canceled by the total increase of the bottom dead center increase of volume. rendering no change. (as the notches are same size top and bottom of piston stroke)
but on an 89, i just don't know. what changes ,if need be.
all 1.6Liters. right?
i can not guarantee this to work using the Parts list as the pn are in fact diff.
you must find some one who did exactly this and the years it was done with.
92-95 into 89
you did not state year of the 1.6L 16v engine, so that needs to be stated.
you did not state doors, or 2wd, 4wd, which can be diff.
you are USA, Tracker , tells me that ,or export to Canada .
some Canadians run USA cars,
more specific , better answers.
i do see big differences in the engine mounts. (PN diffs)
89 8v to 92 16v
the Righthand and rear mounts have diff, pn. (what it is , is anyone's guess)
be patient , some one will log in and notice your post.
change title to:
"9x 16v block swap to my 89 1.6L Tracker , does this work?"
answer x variable
9x 16v block swap to my 89 1.6L Tracker , does this work?
The motor the mechs got they dont know the year or how many doors it had...
So far the things they did were, change the head to the 8V, change the pipe that goes into the water pump and water pump, they are going to change the crank pully to the 8V pully.. so far everything seems to look good but i never did check out the motor mounts but ill do that today
The Tracker is a USA model
and also i pulled my motor out and ripped the "transmission seal".....im not sure if that what it is called but Its between the engine and transmission and its got the little hole were the starter goes.... i dont think im making any sense but this is the best i can describe it
