has anyone used an Ebay rebuild kits? theres a couple between $250.00-$350.00 plus shipping, I will be rebuilding the engine soon, just a daily driver/gas saver/son first car
any suggestions?
also in the back of the block marked G16A , one of the ebay kits says G16K will it work? any difference?
lets work back wards
how is your compression (with and with out a teaspoon of oil each cyl)
?
170 or more hot
150 or more cold.
or ?
how even.
you might do a top in to find out.
then if that dont help then , send block to a prime machine shop your area(ask)
and ask them to evaluate the short block.
tell them how many miles you want to drive it.
15k
150k
everyones needs are diff.
i buy used sensors. and test them. and then try them.
but engine internals, that gets the best of the best.
what is the mileage now.
those kits come with main bearings.
tell me how do they know , the wear on the crank.
tell me.
(cart before horse, this is.)
its like buying window blinds by guessing. they will never fit.
cheers.
IMHO, YMMI
etc,
it is only my sick opinion
schibb1a:
(scratching head)
head off to machinist
or put in new valve seals and punt.
block (fully apart on block trolly)
ridge ream it
glaze break cylnders
put in std pistons, if that is what is there, other wise, look and match them to fleebay sizes.
buy some plastic gauge,
measure the crank journals for size tolerances, and compare them to the FSM max.
good, continue, no , new crank, same for rod big end bearings.
or just use old crank and pray.
clean block and white rag wipe each cylinder unit it comes out white,
use solvents to clean the cylinders. (never skip this step)
reasemble engine (staggering ring gaps) checking gap spec on rings.
filing to spec. this gap.
check all torques 2 times.
Earl Lives again.
cheers.
Im sure i left something out, but that is what earl was all about.
Glasses raised to Earl S.
Im in South America, this is everywhere. here.
No stranger to me.
id never put any non brand name any engine part in to any engine.
and if from china, RUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Thanks, I will check the local parts store to see what the have, I just wanted to know if anyone used them before.
Thanks for the suggestion, I guess I should mentioned, am a mechanic for the last 25 years I been turning wrench, am a certified Cummins Diesel Engine Builder, I do it for a living, I just finish a certification on Allison Transmissions. I understand all the machining procedures. Last month I rebuilded a Chrysler 2.2 Turbo 2 engine and its been boosting 22 PSI on pump gas, going on the dyno soon, I can rebuild VW aircooled engines with my eyes closed, and there's 5 Mazdas Rotary car in my town running my engines for the last couple years some of them bracket race them. Am building another Chrysler 2.5 Turbo 12 second car, I owned all measuring equipment, I mic my own stuff and tell the machinist what I want. The only reason am inquiring about the cheapo rebuild kit is because I think I paidd too much for the tracker with a knocking 3 rod bearing, I thought I could rebuild it for cheap as is going to be my son first car, thats all
just new to the Suzuki niche,
thanks ,
Dre
sorry , many here will just try to jam in a fleebay kit, willy nilly and be real sorry.
2ways.
22psi, oh my, thats a bunch.
I make sure they can tell me who made the parts.
names,
then make sure I can look them up.
my tranny kit was from fleebay but was really a major shop in LA.
(1 out of 4) was good parts others were china crude.
I checked out each bearing for its quality. (NSK, Timken, etc)
Im sure you know its a crap shoot on ebay but there are some pearls there, I find them too.
I hope you can fix your #3 cheap and get son on the road.
I bet son will be glad to watch Papa!
