Default 1.6l 16 valve tracker motor

i'm getting ready to rebuild the motor. I bought a rebuild kit that has everything for it. I ordered the pistons .020 oversized. my question is does anybody know what the clearance should be for the pistons and the cyl walls. i didnt get anything with them. I called them and they are telling me -.04mm total diam. to me that is a neg. number so that means the cyl walls are going to me smaller than the pistons. that makes no since to me. so i'm thinking that they meant +.04mm. now thats only .0015 total diam that isnt very much too me. but the book says the same thing for standard specs. thats the piston to bore clearance. would like to know if anyone can confirm that the oversize would be that same. thanks

From my 95 FSM for VIN 6, piston -to-cylinder clearance 0.02-0.04 mm (0.0008-0.0015 in.)

you should be working in close contact with a pro machine shop.
1: he measures your bores for dia, outof round and taper.
2: he proclaims (its is guarantee and craft) you need xx over size for me to guarantee good bore and hone.
3: you get the pistons he recommends,
4: you give them to him and he measures them exactly.
5: (gives the Nero thumbs up) and the bores it perfect the specs are published in the FSM. rebuilding the engine with out this document is folly.

put the machine shop in the loop , full and complete and the results can be amazing.

this is a craft not a swap of parts.
the machines knows what he can do, what his equipment can do.

i do not understand your reverse rebuild process. what method are you following.
?

what is your goal, a good running engine.
more power,
?
turbo prep.

really what is your end point.
every one has diff. goals.

street strip, offroad crawler or ,just something to fool with in the sand or dirt.

cheers.
ps,
the markings vary by manufacture, go to there web site and find it,
if it is not there , cantact them. im sure their anwer is easy to find.
