Hi, new member here, just traded my 91 Eagle Talon for a 94 Tracker 5Speed, JX and I was driving on the highway and it lost power, it turns but it doesnt start.
From some reading here I've found out it maybe,
a. T-Belt
b. ECU
c. TPS?(the wire was broken but I fixed and it didnt work)
d. Distributor?
16 valves ? then be careful , that belt ,
interference engine.
in this case. was running.
check belt timing. I just check Distributor timing, TDC 5deg btdc.
put crank at TDC and 5 ticks to left. then look at dizzy rotor. if #1 alignes with #1 cap term, perfectly, then proceed.
Check spark next. (at plug 1 , then at coil main term) (careful it can go to 100kv )
check engine using test fuel.
pull plugs look for flooding.
on 8valves engines, do in any order you want. it is free running,
Yeah, its a 16v. However, its a little cold outside to work on it, plus I did not hear any signs of a T-Belt failure. I put some gas in today and same thing. Cranks, the belts move, it just doesn't fire up. It was driving fine, no lost power or anything.......I had it towed to a garage and the guys will have a look at it. I'm just concerned....the previous owner changed the pluges in October of 2008. What does this mean?
"I just check Distributor timing, TDC 5deg btdc. "
I noticed that most of my electrical parts are Mitsubishi...weird....
suzuki dont make electric/ronic parts. they buy them , just like most car co's.
if they were smart they'd vertically integrate but it has downs sides too.
"fast evolution is hard to compete with "
Look at IBM in 60's ,they even made their own screws. made the whole thing they did.
the belt if allowed to make noise is dooming the engine. Sound = too late.
if it slips 1 tooth and you catch that, you are blessed, if allowed to progress as it surely will , it will scratch 1 engine. http://carfix.stufftoread.com/t-belt/oops-16v.jpg
