Vibrating Knocking noise beneath
Hope someone can help solve my problem. Lately, there are vibrating and knocking noises which definitely come from beneath the left side of the vehicle. The noise come from the front passenger seat area to the left rear corner (my ride is a right hand drive). The knocking and vibrating noise is quite strong and comes intermittently. The noise is especially more pronounced on rough uneven road. I have done the following:
1. Checked all seat bolts
2. Check exhaust pipe
3. replaced the two rear shocks
4. replaced engine mounting and auto gearbox mounting
5. checked bolts and latch of rear door
6. noise also detected even when gear is on neutral
7. noise seems to come only from the left side of the vehicle
I am thinking of
1. replacing the rear wheel bearings
2. change the front two shocks (has covered 50,000 miles since last change.
3. replace all the rear bushings
Am I on the right track or just wasting money. My mechanic was not able to identify the source of the noise.
My ride is a 1996 3-door 1.6 litre 16valve auto. Everything is standard, no modification . Thanks
