Cool 1997 Sidekick 1.8 Stalls at Idle only: TPS ?

We have a 1997 sidekick sport 1.8 4X4. It runs great and works really good.
When rolling to a Stop it dies, stalls. It starts asap and idle's at 850 smoothly.
New plugs, wires, 91 octane gas, ran b12 chemtool and other cleaners through the gas. It just stalls when about 2 mph, even with foot off of the clutch and break, but only when it gets under 2 or 3 mph?

I am thinking of ordering a new TPS but it will cost about 90 or 100 bucks?
But if it is the Idle control sensor or something else I'd rather find out first?

Thank you

Default 1.8 sidekicks stalls when coming to a stop

I should mention that the vehicle stalls only when the engine is warm, at normal operating temerature. All cooling system is fine - It seems to be a sensor but I am not sure which sensor it is?

Only when it gets warm does it stall when coming to a stop. Starts immediately, idle perfect, runs perfect otherwise? Could it be the throttle position sensor or air intake sensor? Has new Clean air filter, oil, gas 91 octane. This is kind of dangerous as my girlfriend drives this car daily and we have very limited funds available for repairs.

Thank you

Default

need.
it can be either , the IAC sticking or the TPS idle switch bad or maladjusted.

i presume , putting foot on gas in antipation prevents stall , right?

when you lift your foot the TSP must close or idle CONTROLS, will not happen.

it is easy to test.
with any cheapo DVM, volt ohm meter of any kind.
TPS testing
main page
http://carfix.stufftoread.com/sensors/95-TPS-adj1w.jpg
exact page.

your TB is same as 95 TB.
so pin out dwgs are good.

just test it , calibrate it and then flip it many times to be sure it closes every time.
yours will read below 300 ohms closed,
min is 50 ,but they vary,
it is not a gold switch with zero perfect ohms,
it is carbon switch. (see photo of guts)

if the switch closes every time ,they it is good.
if problem continues,
then the IAC is dirty.
your IAC is just to the front of the EGR valve on right side of induciton plenum tank.

it can gunk up inside. flush with carb cleaner.
i take chop sticks from China restr. and sharpen them and wiggle things in side gently while flushing it out.

all sensors are expensive.
IAT /ECT is like $50 others way higher.
