Just bought an 87 Samurai
Ok, I found this thing, im 17 and I just wanted to buy something to mess around in, go muddin and stuff. I paid 650 bucks for it, got a clean title with it. For what I paid for it, its in pretty good condition to be honest. My cousin does alot of body work, and I am going to have him paint it for me. Im also going to put a lift and some tires and wheels on it. Theres some things that are wrong with it (little things) that I was going to ask here.
Ok,
1 the speedometer doesn't work. Im not sure if it it just disconnected or what.
2. It idles a little high. When it is cold, and when it is warm. They guy i bought it from paid a thousand for it and put 500 into it, he put a new head on it, put a new clutch in it, and he cleaned out the carb.
3. I got the original tape player with it, it was disconnected. How can I wire up a cd player up to it. There is no box or anything that came with it. Can I rig something up to hold the cd player in?
4. It seems to use a little bit of oil. You can tell it in the smoke, the smoke has a blue tint to it. It doesn't smoke alot, but you can definately tell it uses oil.
5. The hood releasee doesnt want to work very well. It was working but now it doesnt. I can take a pair of pliers and grab the cable between the grill and pull it sideways and it will unlatch the hood. Perhaps it just needs a new cable? It isnt cut or anything, it is still intact, but yeah.
It doesn't have front signals, it has rear though. I was thinking about going to walmart and getting those cheap orange rectangle lights, and just wiring them up and mounting them somehow. Would that work? I could probably screw them to the frame, or figure out something.
That is about all that I can think of at the moment. If I think of anything else, then I will be asking here. I don't know a lot, but I know some. Thanks for the help!
