Default tracker auto to 5 spd swap ?

i have just purchesed 2 trackrs ones a 92 with bad auto trany nice shape other then that & other is a 89 5 spd bad everything eng gone & body beat to hell, i prefer to drive a 5 spd so heres question
is it harder to swap the auto out & put in the 5 spd or should i just pull eng off & put in then replace body parts that need done & save rest of future fixes as it probly gonna need lots later on the way the 89 looks im guessing a kid owned it....
or am i gonna have problems putting that combo together ?

both are 4x4s & have same eng ect other than one ugly beat up & automatic on other

It's very doable, I converted my 95 2wd auto to 4wd stick in a weekend. If you are pretty good with a wrench I'd say go for it. Be glad to help if you get stuck. I'd do the rear main seal at the same time.

Default easy swap then ?

ya im good at fixing anything & if someone tells me it cant be fixed that i have to get new more then once ill fix it then buy new just to prove its fixable..
anyway i prefer to just keep the good eng in the good tracker but i dont do automatics & its bad anyway, is there anything special i should know as im new to the tracker sidekick i can tear a geo metro apart & put back together sleeping now but never workd on a tracker yet

4wd tranny and xfr , clutch , new flywheel, and many mounts are diff.

since engine stays same , easy.
get a clutch pedal fitted first, that might be hard. since years are diff.
tranny cronssmember?

89-91 are one gen, 92 -95 is next gen.
so that can cause probls.

I have the parts lists and will look it up late tonight , the diffs.

cheers

Maybe I just got lucky, everything bolted up like it belonged there. I didn't swap out the steering/pedal assy to mount the clutch pedal, I cut the bushing out of the doner cars pedal support and tacked it on the auto cars. In retrospect I would proably just swap out the entire pedal assy.

maybe i should just play it smart & just put the eng in the shitty one & take the body parts off & stick on it too & like i said i will always have the t-case & front & rear end parts as needed when needed & interior is easy to swap just as easy i guess

thanks for details on pedals !!!

92 is better, much so.
you can get parts easy and lots of docs on 92,and poor on 89, IMHO.

So mounts are all different? I'm needing the new engine. I liked the 3-speed auto, but the fluid is dirty (127k miles) and fear a recent tranny death will occur soon after i spend the time to install an engine. I love engine electronics that comes with post '91 trackers, and will install a 16v at all costs over the broken 8v. That said, and the statement its not a pretty car just a large ATV, would a five speed slide in ok? I dont have a donor vehicle. Maybe we all could be pointed to a microfiche, I never found any for this car which is a major reason its got a permanent sale sign on it. Thanks
