Default Unknow CEL

Unknow CEL turn on my panel. A tiem ago my transmission was slippery when cold, but once got warm, it runs ok. So I though the Master Kit was the solution, but now my transsmision runs weak, powerless, and this light (CEL) appears. My Transmission (3sp 3L30) lost the TCC lockup, the shift are soft, but there is no downshift. Could be the TCC relay?.

89 ,

on 89 , the fuse panal has a blank positon (left knee location) .
it says diagnostic or the like.
insert any fuse to this blank spot, and it will blink out the codes.

tranny, sounds bad.
Slush pump diagnosis

what is a master kit.?

the AT has many parts and many failure modes.
clogged filter, low in oil, (i assume you checked levels proper)
weak pump, can be tested in car.

there is a huge list of tests/ fix, on an AT that can be done on car and some fixes on car
TCC (test and replace)
4sp (not you) shift solidnoids test and swap on car.
4sp TCM. (secret tests and swap)
Governer unit.
Modulator unit.
oil pressure test
Stall tests

i have a link to the test manuals too. it is there on that page. above.

just to name a few.

The Master Kit it's the set of new steel plates, fiction plates, bushings, washers and seals. But no filter, vacumm modulator and no solenoid either. But all this parts are ok according to my tech mechanics. Then I think the kickdown cable it is bad intalled, and thats the reason there is no downshift. Example: The car has take-off power, it feels ok, it goes to 2nd gear and 3rd gear softly, but if I put my foot on break to reduce speed and then accelerator pedal, there is no downshift to lower gears, it is like stock in 3rd gear, then breaks again to stop the vehicle and then feels like a hit then downshift to lower gears.

Should I be scared?

Rebuild kits, many types there are......
you need to explain what it does good and bad.
does shifting manually always work good?
shifts up ok
down shift bad.

there are 2 devices that function.
kick down
and
Vacuum modular ( this is load sensing,)
can you down shift car manually with proper action?
the good things are just as important to diagnosis as the bad.

is tranny ever slipping? flares or spin ups?

IS the Kick down cable good and free at both ends and does is move linearlly at both
ends via foot action? (proportional it must be if cable moves and tranny side dont then
the kick valve is bad)

did you look at my page, and at the like to the trouble shooting pdf.?

based on what you said and the FSM chart: { downshift issues }
1-bad kick down cable,
2: kick down pressure reg. stuck

other symptoms. (picked from FSM on key word , downshift)
no part throttle 32 downshift at low veh.speeds. bad valve body .
after full throttle upshifting tranny shifts immediately to lower gear, upon easing off gas.
bad kick valve, cable or vacuum mod reg.
at high speeds, ranny shfits into lower gear,, bad governor. and others.

tell more.
