all obd 2 vehicles the plug should be under the drivers side of the dash board about where your left knee would be

yea, I thought it was supposed to be under the driver side area, but I don't see it? Checked and rechecked, started thinking maybe it was located somewhere else, or in a hard to find area?

I'm assuming this vehicle is ODBII. Is it possible a 1998 tracker 16v is not odbII. There is a 4 wire plug end dangling it has a yellow plastic cap on it. Could this be ODB 1?

what country are you in, there is no world standard , so with out this data, your question is impossible to answer.
if usa and canada , the connector by law must be within 1 meter from center of steering wheel.
if out side , usa/can, you can can be year 2000 and still not have obd2 (or the equiv)
2003 diesel can be non OBD2 in EU.

here is a quote
OBD2 standard
OBD2 (or OBDII) defines a communications protocol and a standard connecter to acquire data from passenger cars. It was required by U.S. EPA on all gasoline powered cars and light duty trucks manufactured for the U.S. after 1996 to help monitor/inspect vehicle emissions. Canada required it after 1998, and a European standard (EOBD) is also enforced.

if you are in usa and canada the connector
is usually located in these areas , drivers seat.
1: in plain view, bottom edge of dash , looking up.
2: behind a plasic flip off panel near steering column
3: behind ashtray door.
4: behind fuse panel all above very close to steering column.

but mine, is moved to the passener side.

Thanks a bunch for the reply

I'm in the USA (michigan).

Gave up lookin for tonight. I'm gonna look again in the morning. Sure did'nt think it would be hard to find? The odbII plug on my 98' ram van sticks out like a sore thumb.

usa .
for sure obd2.
6" on center line of steer column , Plus or Minus 6"

unless someone moved it. they sell extension cables, I have one on mine, so i can drive and log data, not trip on wires.

it is there. some where.

I have a 99, and the OBDII connection is tucked right up behind the plastic panel to the right of the column, tough to see.
