I've got the Tracker up on jackstands and the wheels off, looking over what I need to do to bleed the brake lines. In the FSM the last bleed is the LSPV.

Where is the elusive LSPV (load sensing proportioning valve) located?

I slid around under the Tracker tonight with my flashlight, following brake lines from the rear drums to the master cylinder but didn't spot it.

This is for the 2 door model:

it is in the passenger side rear fender well, on the inside of the frame. You will see it connects to the rear axle / center mount via a spring. When you have more weight on the rear suspension it allows more pressure to the rear brakes.

Not all of the 2drs have the LSPV.

91 Geo Tracker Service Manual, General Brakes 5-11 details the LSPV. Section 5E details the RWAL. Is your FSM different?

you must be taking the RWAL dwg, fig 5-1 id 5: Prop. /diff valve

i believe this valve only set the break point for when all fluid goes to rear if the front brake line fails.
i was thinking the lever action prop valve on some kicks and trackers that proportions the pressrure to rear based on ride height(load)

located in rear, and has a lever to the frame.

cheers.

My lspv is also leaking on a 96 geo tracker 2 door. It only leaks when the plunger is being pushed in. If I disconnect the spring that activates the plunger maybe it will stop leaking. What would be the down side of this solution?
Also if I replace my rear brakes this would also cause the plunger not travel as far in the valve and in effect stop the leak. Could this also be a solution?

While I was under my tracker I noticed a hose that was attached to the catalytic converter was kinked. I unkinked it and my check engine light went off.

If I replace my worn rear brake pads the plunger on the LSPV will not travel into the valve body so far in and out. Will this stop the LSPV from leaking?
