Unhappy Soaking wet Tracker

I have this re-occuring prolbem with the Tracker. After a heavy rain the drivers side front & rear gets SOAKING wet, wet to the point that there is a significant puddle on the driver side.

I thought the top wasn't on properly, so i reset it & that would usually stop the prolbem, but now it's bacccck anyway, it's quite annoying, I for the life of me can not think of where it is coming from. The walls of the Tracker seem to be dry, the only thing I can think of is that the vent was set to fresh air & the water is coming though the heater vent's, but if thats the case than why is the passenger side dry?

Is there a drainage tube that runs behind the firewall that i'm over looking that may be cloged or broken?

I'm open to thoughts & sugguestions.

There's only one time I had that happen. It wasnt a tracker mind you. I had a subaru and the drains at the bottom of the windshield in the corners had stopped up. They were clogged with pine needles and debri from leaves. Causing water to flow into the vents. I dont know if that helps or not but its a start. You could always pull the carpet back and have someone spray it with a hose and see if you can find the leak. Maybe that will help.

yes, i remember cleaning that out

i had the funny plastic piece off mine, so I could clean out all that crap that
was in there. leaves. twigs, dead squirrels.
i was looking on my left side and was saying hows the water to get out of hear.
and then i see that it just slips away into voids to finders. and it was clogged up.

those plastic rivets have a trick.
hujmmmmm brain forgets.
ok , i push center and they pop out? all i remember is they are strange.
i have a spare shroud and rivets will look in am.
fact is they do come one, with out breaking.

cheers

I have this same problem. It had been sitting awhile next to bushes and I thought I'd find all sorts of junk under the windshield cowl... there was a lot of crud built up around the driver's side wiper post. Anyway, to get in there take off the wiper arms, undo the washer lines and remove the plastic rivets. As Jerry said, you push in the button in the middle of them and then just pull them out (might need a flat blade screwdriver or something). It wasn't all that dirty under mine, but a swept and vacuumed everything I could. I have a garden hose that I made into a Shop Vac extension (for my miata drains) to get down in where the wiper assembly is, just in case (it looked clean). I unbolted the fender and pulled that away at the top corner... it didn't look all that dirty anyway.. We're supposed to get a bunch of rain later today/tomorrow, so we'll see what happens. My back window clip is broken, so it could [i]could[i] be possible it's coming in there, and migrating to the front...? but I doubt it. Anyway, my driver side front and rear foot wells have really been getting soaked with a good rain. BTW, to put those clips back in the plastic cowl, push the center pin back out, put the clip in the hole and push the center back down flush. I'll let you know if it gets soaked again tomorrow.

No rain yet, just a lot of wind. Surely there must be others on here who have had a similar experience. I'll let you know as how it goes as soon as we actually do get some rain.
