Default 94 Geo Tracker Radio

My Geo Tracker has been missing the radio since I bought it. I'm thinking about buying a radio that's from a 94 Geo Metro. Will the stock radio from the Metro work in my Tracker. I've heard something about radio "codes" that might cause a poblem, but I have no idea what they are. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
sluhbmet

Upgrade!
I just bought a model from Crutchfield a few month's ago and absolutly LOVE it.
It plays MP3, connects to my Bluetooth phone and much more.
It was about $130.00 and they ship the wiring kit and instructions especially for your model car.

I'll look up the model I am using.

I was wanting to keep it stock if at all possible. Plus, the price is right for the one out of the Metro. $15.

Default swift / sidekick radio cross over.

i looked them up and they are both diff.wiring.
electrically one can make a connection and it will work.

but the pin# and colors are completely diff.

is can send the dwg.
as far is radio locks, get a swift/metro operators manual $3 online and the read the page
that says how to activate or deactiveate this feature.
if it has it at all, i do not know.
but if it does, it must be deactvated. that is for sure.
or u can brick the radio.
but this is all moot, just plug in the radio to an 12vdc source or battery.
connect up 1 speaker and try it . if it plays above is not an issue.

with the below you can make a cross over cable.

i do not not have real geo schematics, just real suz. so i presume GM/GEO
didnt change things here....

heck they match my Geo Tracker perfect.

cheers.

LL, I also bought a unit from Crutchfield (Sony w/USB port), HD radio adapter, & upgrade speakers last year. What a difference!

Thanks for all your replies. jtgh, as usual you are a wealth of knowledge. I appreciate the heads up on the two models being wired differently. I think I'll pass on the metro deck and wait for the correct on Ebay.

the alternate is walmart radio.

and the special adaptor for the sidekicks. plugs directly into factory harness cable with pig tails that you wire to any radio (head unit) that you can fit.

that way you wont have to mangle the factory harness.

cheers.

Car-Parts.Com is THE best source for all OEM used stuff, certainly for interchange information and an idea of the price range one can expect to pay for any part. I bought a used OEM AM/FM/CD from a Prism for $250.00/works fine. My opinion is that if you want a genuine Compton South Central Pimp My Ride Tracker, go aftermarket for your tunes.
