Default Suzuki Sidekick 93 16V No cranking

Hi there...I know that's a problem which was yet explained in the forum but I don't understand (french here, don't shoot).

I had a broken clutch cable , after i replaced the cable and started my car, i noticed a light ((charging battery)), i must admit i didn't pay so much attention and let my car run for 30 minutes and then stopped it.
Three hours after i tried to start my car again and .....nothing, all lights went down (even the headlight).

I checked the ground wire between battery and solenoid, it looked good, i assumed my battery was dead, then i bought a brand new one and tried again, still nothing but a lot of noise in the column of direction........

Now i'm quite a noob about car.

I checked this page : Engine-will-not-crank-over
But my solenoid is kinda different.

Fuses looked allright too.

Hello mr. no crank (what transmission?)
1 charge the battery (since alternator is unhappy assume its bad)
2 crank it.
still no cranking.
jump start it,
sill wont crank
then hot wire the solenoid.

your solenoid can have 3 or 2 terminals. (that dont make them different)
1- big red is Battery main.+
2l then the tiny solenoid coil lug. ( this is what starts the car)
the 3rd on mine is missing, but not really it is just a heavy cable that goes to the starter motor, forget this wire or lug.

car in neutral or park as the case may apply, then chock the wheels.
then put 4wd in neautral too as an extra percaution.
then jumper big RED to tiny coil lug (as spade term) and you will hear car crank.
it will not actually start because the keys are in your pocket (safety)
if car cranks , then you have a starter wire problem.

if it wont crank then :
1: bad starter , solenoid assembly.
2: bad starter cables.
3: bad battery or dirty terminals. ( or dead battery)

above jumper works.
now we have a bad ST (key line)
this is a very simple problem but can be hard to fix.
simple electrically , hard in path and routing.

the starter key switch (called ST) goes to 12vdc when you turn the key to Start.
this voltage is passed to the (see my schematic, it is clear no?) clutch (guessing) or to the park switch on tranny.
any time a car will not start , wiggle the auto tranny shifter, or if manual depress the clutch to floor 5 times hoping clutch switch will work.

i will wait for you response on the following items.
all 4 things are designed to kill starting of a car, besides the above.
1: tranny? type.
2: immobilizer? (factory or other wise)
3: alarm? (usually non OEM)
3: remote start after market device.

that should get you started. hahahah

Thanks for your reply.
It's a manual 5 speeds transmission.

Gonna try your solution asap.

I just had the same issue two weeks ago. Turn out it was my alternator was fried. I had just power washed my engine and I assume I got it too wet.
I had the local Autozone test it and bingo I needed a new one.
Good luck.

lawless
put Alternator in oven at 100 to120f , use accurate thermom. simulating death valley ca.
back for 1/2 hr,
it will work. ( unless wet fried the alt. regulator ,which it i can)
always wrap alternator and dizzy (and other expensive electirics in plastic bags or wrap.)
do not direct spary at any SEALS,

back to starting, Storm:

first always monitor battery voltage when cranking.
this tells the full story of what is going on.
post it.

keep an open mind, all fails have been reported here.
even a fully shorted out starter.

do not throw parts, take voltage readings under load.

best two checks?

Big red, at solenoid.(out board , hug lug with red cable to batterY)
Solenoid key line (ST) spade TINY lug.

those 2 get the ball rolling.

not to mention trying a fresh new charged battery from another car.
the alternator can be unplugged and the wire taped , to ellimanate this variable.

good luck.
