Default My introduction, picture update.

Hi guys, This is my first post here so I'll do a quick introduction

My name is Óttar and I'm from Iceland. I've always been into sport cars (first car a Dodge stealth and the second one a mitsubishi 3000gt VR4.)
But as a financial crisis is settling in over here I decided to get something more practical.

And then out of the Blue my uncle offered me his 97 vitara 2L turbo diesel for free. I couldn't pass that offer so now i'm joining your society.

A little info about the car.
He bought the car new in 97 and has taken good care of it since, always maintained by the dealership and I've got a receit for every little part that's went into this car.
the interior is like new and the body is pretty good for a 11 year old car.
It's lifted a tiny bit and I got it with new rims and tires.

The cam timing is a bit off, sounds like it has jumped one tooth, not enough to damage valves but enough to make it horrendously slow. Fixing that this week.

But now on to the pics.

I'm not really sure yet what my plans are, but I might decide to turn it into a toycar.

If there are any special precautions with this car when doing the timing belt and tensioner I'd love to hear them

And also.. what the hell is the name of this engine.. I can't seem to find out :P 2Liter turbo diesel

Thank you.

Nice looking motor, good price too The 2ltr Turbo diesel is a Mazda engine. I like the bonnet scoop, I don't recall seeing one like that before.

Rhinoman, The scoop is stock as far as I know, it's placed above the intercooler.
And you don't happen to know the nema of the engine do you?

Zuke, the car is still at his place and will stay there until I get the parts. But I'll upload new pics as soon as I get them.
I don't know haw the fuel consumption is since I haven't driven it for more than 2-3 minutes.

Zuke, I got some pics of the engine for you.

On top towards the rear you see the intercooler that the scoop feeds.
