Default X-90 vs. ELM327-USB interface ????

Hello
As in the title i've problem with conecting ELM327-USB interface to my X-90 1996. I use it with scantool 1.13 Seem's OK, Leds on the interface are blinking and...i got communicate that error message that it was not possibile to estabilisch communication between car and the computer. I have tried many programs, many interface drivers and...nothing.

IS X-90 1996 ECU compatible with OBDII? or do I have to rely on blinking(flashing) codes?

Where abouts are you? US models should be OBD2 compatible others may not be. You need to check which pins on the OBD2 connector are populated. What part number is your ECU?

For OBD2 you should have pins 5, 7 and 16 connected.

there are few x90s ww

-79e50 japan unk
79e90 japan unk
USA are obd2 compliant. last digit of ecu pn sticker, will say US MT then number(EG)
-79e01 and e21 usa
-79e11 california
79e31 and e71 are canada. (might work)

if left hand drive , ecu is above left knee ,
if right hand drive ecu is above right knee 2 or 4 screws an it move to rear and arks down the pull conn. they have lock tabs do not force it , just depress the center tabs.

another great source of nfo is in UK.
see.
ELM327 OBDII / EOBD Car Scan Tool diagnostics interface (US - For 2001+ petrol, 2004+ diesel cars :: Gendan Automotive Products

these guys can really help you better.

cheers.

many cars sold to Europe are not obd2 or EOBD compliant , unitl 2001.

USA cars are 96+ ( small exception list)
USA compliancy was mandated to occure on or after 96.
some mfg. wisely supported sooner.
94 is earliest for some high end cars. usa.

one more place to look is the under hood smog sticker
and the Vin plate on fire wall, the last line on the plate and the last 2 digits
show the export model Market code, E01 = japan , e28 canada, e03 usa, e33 PR of California , other i can look up.

before buying any tool , find out what pn ECU is and more important the Enn
e market number.

This is not an OBD2 model so the Elmscan will not work. It uses Suzukis own SDL interface and protocol as described here:
