Automatic transmition

Hi
I have a 95 1.6 16V 4x4 Geo 2 doors with a 3 speed automatic transmition. I have notice that the internal part of the cabin gets to hot around the transmition area. Is this normal?

it may be, depends on weather, in hot weather, the tranny hump can get real hot
sitting at red lights and in gear.
pop it in neutral and rest it. at the long lights. in gear the oil gets real hot.
2kw of energy is wasted in gear at a red light , most cars.
shame really.

any flames shootn out of rear of car. LOL?
