Default coolant lines

Ok my buddy and I rebuilt my 89 zuki 1.6 8v and got a little carried away cutting old colant lines. I need some help running new hoses before I fire it up. On the back side of the water pump is a tube held in by an o ring. There are three openings on this tube. The first one is a 3/8 opening, the second is 1/2 going to the heater core. the third goes up into the intake manifold. Where does the first one go to, the 3/8 hose. I can not find any unused 3/8 opening and do not want to take an antifreeze bath. thanks
